Some parents think that their child will learn all they need to from school. But your child’s education starts way before they start attending primary school or even nursery. It can be daunting as a parent trying to teach your child new skills, but often you do it without even realising.

Simple skills such as counting, learning shapes and colours and letters are often involved in our everyday life and just saying things out loud is often enough of a start to help your child begin to understand.

When you are walking up the stairs for example, count the steps with your child and pretty soon they will start to count along with you. Playing eye spy but with colours is a great way to help your child recognised what the names of the colours are and is also a fun way to learn.
