When deciding which age group you would like to teach, there are many factors that come in to play. Teaching secondary school children although rewarding can be quite challenging at times with children tending to push the boundaries a bit more. Primary schools also have good points and bad points but with the satisfaction of watching pupils grow from maybe not being able to read or write at all to reading their first book or learning to spell their name, the satisfaction far outweighs the down sides of the job.
With the talk of tests being bought in for 4 year olds now, primary school teachers need to be even more on the ball than ever and ensure that children not only understand what they are doing but also try and make it fun to keep their interest.
Whether it be teaching in a college or primary school the fundamental goals are the same, to ensure each and every pupil has the opportunity, tools and support needed to learn.
